Students and faculty gathered to celebrate the notable achievements of West Morris’ exceptional students at the National Honor Society induction on Wednesday, October 22nd.

These students were escorted by a teacher or administrator of their choice and lit a candle while reciting the NHS oath. The candle, representative of knowledge and enlightenment, indicated the students’ pledge and dedication to upholding the high standards of NHS.

In order to have achieved this honor, inductees must have demonstrated an exceptional GPA throughout their high school career, achieving at least a 3.750 cumulative GPA between freshman and junior year.

It is required for inductees to exemplify their role as a leader and participate in service events and volunteering opportunities. Students must also show qualities of good character in order to be selected as a candidate for NHS.

“It was a very genuine ceremony, especially with administrative escorts,” said inductee, Alexa Mataczynski. “It was nice to be recognized and inducted into such a prestigious program!”

The high standards and expectations of the National Honor Society are demanding, but more than sixty students from Central announced their dedication to upholding these principles by “maintaining and encouraging high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character,” according to the NHS oath. Congratulations to these accomplished students and their achievements!
