Quarterback Tim Tebow was cut from the Philadelphia Eagles pre-season roster on September 5th.
Tim Tebow is 28 years old and has not played in a competitive game in the NFL since November of 2012.
Seeing how Tebow played back in 2012, it was not hard to see the struggles that carried over in the past 3 years. Tim Tebow having the reputation of inaccurate passing capabilities, Chip Kelly released a statement claiming that Tebow just wasn’t good enough to be their 3rd string quarterback.
As seen on ESPN.com Cid Kelly said,“We felt Tim has progressed, but we didn’t feel he was good enough to be the [No.] 3 right now,”
Despite the issues the Eagles are going through with their starting quarterback, Sam Bradford acclaiming to his injuries in past seasons and his contract negotiation, Coach Kelly felt that Tebow had spent enough time for now in Philadelphia.
Although being released off the team, the Eagles coaching staff said that if a quarterback issue is presented once the season has begun that we may get to see Tebow Time return to the NFL in Philadelphia.
ESPN.com quoted Chip Kelly,“There could be a third quarterback. We’ll see what happens with the waiver wire. Whether we add a quarterback to the active roster or the practice squad, we’ll see.”
As for Tebow’s career at the moment–numerous rumors have spread of his entrance to the CFL or not.
Zach Berman tweeted,“Chip Kelly told Tim Tebow that he should play in the CFL to get more reps, according to a league source.”
Chip Kelly said that one of the main reasons Tim Tebow was cut from the team was because he just needed more reps to be a considered 3rd string quarterback, But as for Tim Tebow’s career right now, he has ran out of time.
