Come 2015, West Morris Central will implement an interesting and new way to pay for lunch along with many other items.

Each student will be given an account for the school, in which parents put money on a debit or credit card for their own children to purchase food.

On each students ID, there are barcodes that a cafeteria employee will be able to scan in order to make purchases.

In an interview with the assistant principal, Mr. Braun said, “We hope to have the system up and running within the next month.”Therefore, if things go as planned, the system will be up and running faster than ever.

Even greater news is that parents will no longer be inconvenienced with having to consistently give their kids money everyday. Instead, they can just place money in their child’s account, getting rid of the previous hassle imposed on them.

As further stated by Mr. Braun, “We hope to integrate this with purchasing lunches the school store and also on field trips,” showing a desire to expand the buying program.

In addition to buying lunch, this for of purchasing with your student IDs could also be used to buy various other items at the school. This may include tickets for going to football or basketball games, or even the purchase of school apparel from the school store.

If the school is able to adapt this feature of students being able to purchase food, clothing and field trips using the barcode on the student ID, then it will become very popular and useful for everyone who is involved.
