Creative Writing Encourages Originality and Individuality

Ashley Lutz, Staff Writer

The Creative Writing elective at West Morris Central, or “see dubbs” as Mrs. Pastore refers to it, offers various opportunities to improve writing skills.

Mrs. Pastore provides a safe and welcoming environment to express yourself through writing and share with others. It may be a writing course, but in no way, shape, or form is it similar to the typical English Class.

Creative Writing exposes mind’s to diverse writing styles such as descriptive, fable, poetry, dialogue, short story, parody, advertisement, etc. Any of your favorite writing techniques mentioned? Or was none of them covered?

Either way, Mrs. Pastore is open to new ideas and creative minds. The class teaches you to expand and discover different ways of thinking.

Journal entries are collected at the end of each marking period but no need to worry, class time is given to work on them. Mrs. Pastore mentions on her website that “the class is what you make of it,” and being a participant of that class, I 100% agree.

Creative Writing is very enjoyable but you can only take out of it as much as you put in.
