Girl’s Soccer Advances to Finals

On Monday afternoon, the WMC girls soccer team punched their ticket to the State Sectional Finals on Thursday November 14 against West Essex.

In the semifinal game against Nutley, the girls overcame a 3-1 deficit to complete a cinderella story and comeback of the year. The girls came out of the gates hot with a goal by Christina Hein.

The Nutley team responded with three quick goals. With ten minutes left goals by Brooke Carty and Sydney Sapir tied the game and sent it to overtime. In overtime, Junior Madison Williams won the game from a free kick from 24 yards out to beat Nutley and win a position to the Final.

Captain Sydney Sapir excitedly said, “The semifinal game is one of my favorite soccer memories of the year. It is great to share it with my amazing teammates that all took part in this win.” Good luck to the team on Thursday!
