West Morris Reaches County Final

If there is any knock on the West morris baseball team this year, it is the occasional lack of hitting and run support for their pitchers. This was not the case for the Wolfpack in the county semi-final as the team posted 7 runs, advancing to the county final in a 7-0 win over Morristown. Their first since 1995.

Highlighting the offensive outburst was a solo homerun to left field by Pat Anderson, giving West Morris a two run lead and ultimately sealing the victory. As usual senior pitcher Andrew Politi did not need much to ensure the win as he completed the game with a 4 hit shutout. Politi has been exceptional in big games this season.

In the first game of the year he squared off against the then number four ranked team in the state, Randolph. It did not take the right hander long to make a statement as he threw a no hitter, despite the team suffering a 1-0 loss.

The team has rebounded since that loss and is now considered to be one of the hottest teams in New Jersey entering the county final against Roxbury.

While the team as a whole has been great, Matt Klein and Andrew Politi have been just short of perfection throughout this tournament. The senior pitchers have given up 0 runs on the way to the final. Even crazier is the fact that the two have given up 13 hits in the entirety of the MCT.

With the offense improving each game and the year long success of the pitching staff, all indications are that the Wolfpack could earn the honor of this years Morris County Champion.
