Kim Jong-un Remains Absent

Speculation is rising that something is off with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. This is because he wasn’t on the list of special guests at a celebration of the founding of the Workers’ Party. This is notably the first time in three years that he has been absent from this anniversary.

Kim Jong-un has not been seen publicly for well over a month and has not performed his habitual public duties since his outing on September 3rd.

Reportedly, images of him have shown that he is more overweight and that he had a limp while walking. A documentary describes the leader as going through “discomfort.” This may convey that he is unwell.

Since North Korea keeps information strictly controlled, the media is left no other choice but to speculate what the definite issue is with Kim Jong-un. Some reports surmise that he may have diabetes or gout.

A British article even theorized that he may have an addiction to cheese. These theories were based off of a line in the documentary and could be interpreted in a variety of different ways.

Being absent from a meeting last month and a gathering to celebrate his father’s election continues to add speculation to the rising questions about Kim Jong-un.
