A fire at local Donaldson Farms didn’t stop the Donaldson staff from proceeding with the farm’s festivities that were planned for the following night.

On September 9th, a barn at Donaldson Farms, located off of Allen Road in Mansfield Township, went down in flames.  According to wrnj.com, the fire was deemed as accidental; when bails of straw in the barn were ignited from one of the farms’ grinders, a tool commonly used for cutting bolts, a fire was kindled.

Sean Collins, a senior at West Morris Central, was there to witness the action.  “I was amazed by the response of the volunteer firefighters,” Collins explains.  “There must have been at least 5 different counties there, and they were all volunteered workers.  They had it under control within, at most, 20 minutes.  I have tremendous respect for what they did that day, and the work that they continue to do every day”.

Despite the devastating loss, Donaldson Farms was back on their feet the next day for Market Day, a popular day amongst locals.  Usually seeing hundreds of people, Market Day is a day that cannot be skipped.

Greg Donaldson, the proprietor of Donaldson Farms, reports to lehighvalleylive.com that the customers will always be number one.  “We are going to be able to serve them, for the short term anyway”, he says.  Having this attitude will get the farm right back to where it was in no time.
