Spirit Week: What’s the deal?

Spirit Week: What’s the deal?

So this past week, October 10th to October 14th, was our school’s spirit week. However, very similar to the situation in years past, very few people participated in this very fun event. Now why is that?

Each of the days were carefully planned out so they would be enjoyable for all students. Monday was America Day, a time to be patriotic and express all of your red, white and blue!

Tuesday was most people’s favorite: Pajama Day! A time to be lazy and cozy at the same time, with bathrobes and fuzzy pajama pants, and maybe even slippers and a stuffed bear!

Unfortunately, we missed one day of fun because of the holiday, so Wednesday was without a theme. However, we make up for it with thursday’s thriving theme!

Thursday took us to the beach, with leis and hula skirts, for Hawaiian Day. This one was a personal favorite of mine, strictly because I love my hawaiian attire!

Last but not least, on the day of our Homecoming, we had the theme of Pinkout, of course to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness.

So the only question left to ask is, if we had such exciting and interesting themes, why is it that so few students in our school participate? Senior Allie Terracino says, “I love spirit week, I always participate and I have no idea why other people don’t, it’s so fun!”

Another student, senior Daelien Drake comments on spirit week and says, “I don’t normally participate in spirit week, however it is cool to watch other kids dress up and be spirited, and I love pajama day!”

Spirit Week is an exciting event that encourages the students in WMC to get pumped about the homecoming football game that Friday, and it is a great opportunity for our students to express their admiration and school spirit.
