Why Don’t our Presidential Candidates Have Respect for Each Other?

Madison Donaldson, Assistant Webmaster

With the presidential election now over, everyone has a different feeling. Some may feel happiness, sadness, excitement or even fear. Despite your feeling we must all remember we are together, as a country in a whole. The radical reactions to the election do not represent our country well. If the presidential candidates had more respect for each other during the election, would the people of the U.S. also have more respect?

People are going to the extent of burning the American flag to express their unhappiness. It is sad to see a great country so divided. During the  course of the election, many times candidate Donald Trump, or candidate Hillary Clinton disrespected each other. The people running to lead our country should have a great amount of respect for each other. People disagree, everyone has different views and thoughts on things but for the people running for our president to treat each other with so much disrespect is a shame. These people are our role models and who we look up to.

This election has caused more controversy than any election. Trump supporters and Hillary supporters are dividing and creating a huge problem in our country. If Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump did not conduct themselves the way they did, and did not influence their supporters to hating each other, I think the reaction of this election would be a lot different. If the presidential candidates had more respect for each other, I think it would help their supporters to have more respect for each other. It is upsetting to see our great country in such a time of hatred and separation.
