Packers to Win the NFC Championship

Tyler Sansone, Editor In Chief

This year coming out of the NFC are 8 high quality football teams all ready to compete. The seeds turned out a little unexpected:

  1. Cowboys
  2. Falcons
  3. Seahawks
  4. Packers
  5. Giants
  6. Lions

The major surprise coming from the Cowboys at the 1 seed behind their breakout rookie duo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, looking to prove themselves in the playoffs.

Despite an unlikely 4 seed this year for the Packers I still believe they are going to be the ones to win the conference championship and go on to represent the NFC in the super bowl.

Behind the veteran leadership of two time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers the Packers got hot at the end of the season and are looking to carry that momentum into the playoffs.

After getting off to slow start, going just 4-6 and following a 4 game losing streak in weeks 8-11 the Packers turned their season around.

They needed to win the last 6 games of the season to ensure themselves in the playoffs and they did just that, Aaron Rodgers coining the phrase, “Run The Table” which became their motto for the year.

Coming off an injury plagued season in 2015 for veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson struggled early on but emerged again after week 11, averaging over 7 catches and 99 yards a game, a feat he accomplished just once in the weeks prior.

That success coupled with the emergence of Davante Adams and converted running back Ty Montgomery makes the Packers an offensive juggernaut no defense can contain.

They’ll get passed the perennial postseason threat of the Giants in the first round despite their stout defense, with quarterback Eli Manning being a liability on offense as a result of their poor offensive line.

They’ll then move onto to face the Falcons or Cowboys. The offense will be too much for the Falcons 27th ranked defense and they’ll breeze to the NFC Championship game.

However, they could play the Cowboys which could present a problem for them given the success of the team in the regular season. Despite their regular season dominance I believe inexperience of their rookie duo will shine through and the veteran poise of the experienced Packers team, in addition to their increasing momentum will be too much for them to handle.

The only other team they could be left to face would be the Seahawks who would present the biggest problem for the Packers. They rank 3rd in defensive points per game this year and fall in the middle of the league for their offensive performance

The biggest asset the Seahawks have comes from their playoff experience. They have proved in recent years they have tremendous poise and are always a threat in the playoffs.

However, I think the Packers can edge this game out for all of the reasons I have already given and go on to take the NFC Championship title.
