People judge you by what music you listen too no matter what you say. So what does it mean when your a “metalhead”?  When people think of heavy metal music they think it’s obnoxious or emo. Why was this stereotype given? Yes, it may be loud with heavy drums and guitar but that doesn’t mean it’s dark and depressing. Music is the one way we as humans can express yourself in our own way with many elements.

Some people even say heavy metal isn’t even music. How can someone say that a certain genre isn’t music. As long as instruments are involved its music. We don’t have the right to criticize any other music because to someone else that could be there life. Yes, heavy metal is very loud and intense but that doesn’t mean it’s just noise. All music is music and everyone is entitled to there own opinion but judging and assuming because someone listens to heavy metal is not okay.

There are many different genres of music and it’s up to you to choose what you like. Everyone has their own interests and passions so who are we to say that heavy metal is depressing and negative. Any artist is going to use whatever elements of music to portray his message in the way he wants too. That’s the beauty of music you can express an idea in the way you want too.

Most humans need music to get through there daily lives. We all have our own likes and dislikes and music is the one thing that can affect you  in many ways. It affects your mood mostly. If someone going through depression hears a song that speaks to them and may even bring them some joy to their life then let it be. We all are our own person and we have the right to listen to what makes us happy and when others look down on that because it’s not there type of music can have an affect on others. Personally my music is my own thing that I have and no one can take that away from me so if someone doesn’t like what I listen too I just play it louder. People need to stop judging others on music stereotypes and just enjoy there own taste in music.
