Sen18r Scavenger Hunt

What better way to start off senior year than a scavenger hunt? It’s been a tradition at West Morris Central high school for around five years and continues to live on, along with new memories and regrets. “It’s an awesome experience to start off senior year,” claimed by Brian Hunt, broadcast editor. The list given to seniors consisted of things like jumping in a stranger’s pool, taking a picture with freshmen, propose and break up with a stranger, steal someone from an opposing team, performing a Chinese fire drill, to shotgunning an item in Quick Chek. For each thing on the list that a team completed, a certain amount of points was rewarded. In the end, it was all calculated and the team with the most points would be given a prize. How far would would the seniors go to win? The winning team members are Grant Jenkins, Daniel Haurey, Matthew Polglase,Ryan Hall, Christiaan Bullock, and Tommy Nardone. Stated by one of the members of the winning team and sports editor Grant Jenkins, “The team knew from the beginning that if we drove on Mendhams track, walked on the goat track at Alstede’s, and took a picture with a teacher, we’d have it in the bag.” The Chinese fire drill did not go as plan for our team. As the adrenaline rushed through me, and I could not wait to run around the car at a red light. However, my excitement and eagerness got to me. As I jumped out of the car, I had little friction since there was so much gravel. I slammed into the pavement, resulting in a bruised knee, thigh, and elbow. Team member Kaitlyn Murphy laughed, “I felt very confused about what happened to Elizabeth. This is how not to do a Chinese fire drill.” Seniors will remember this adventurous night, whether it is from a traffic cone as a souvenir or videos and pictures as evidence. Good luck to the Class of 2018 and have an amazing year!
