Fire Ravages Seaside Heights

The popular vacation spot Seaside Heights has recently suffered yet another tragic blow. It started as a small ice cream shop fire and expanded into a dangerous blaze that leveled 80% of the recently rebuilt boardwalk.

At this time authorities are sure that the fire was accidental and not intentional arson. Many businesses on the boardwalk have been reduced to rubble, including the popular rebuilt Funtime Pier. The cause of the fire’s origin at Kohr’s Ice Cream is still unknown to authorities and civilians alike. A strong wind helped the blaze travel through the boardwalk, consuming everything in its path. Despite the strong nature of the fire, there were no deaths, either by civilians roaming the boardwalk or by firemen trying to put it out.

The fire was nearly impossible to douse, mainly because of its severe damage to Seaside’s water supply. Fire companies on the scene, were forced to dig a trench to prevent the fire from spreading into town, and then had to tap into the bay to extinguish it.

Governor Chris Christie, as well as his administration, has put millions of dollars originally intended for Hurricane Sandy renovations to rebuild the small businesses and help small business owners back on their feet. However, it will still take longer to rebuild, seeing as how most of the businesses are nearly unsalvageable. Many fire companies, from Seaside and neighboring counties have visited the boardwalk to try and help rebuild as well.
