Good-bye Chief

After recent controversy regarding the employment of the well-known security monitor, Richard Lansing or “Chief,” it has now been confirmed that he will no longer be working within the West Morris school district.

Following the sudden departure of the apparent “mascot” to the school, many students contributed their thoughts to a collaborative Facebook page that honored the loyal staff member. When School Principle Steve Ryan was asked about the matter he merely stated,

“In the aftermath of Sandy Hook (Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut) we need to have protocols and procedures met for the safety of our school, and that’s our focus.”

Mr. Ryan then elaborated on the statement adding that Chiefs efforts and career heights won’t be forgotten. The school and board of education are referring to this termination of employment as a “mutual separation”. Mr. Lansing formally agreed to hand in a letter of resignation extinguishing his duties as our “Chief”. Honoring a code of professional digression, initial reasons leading to the termination of chief’s career still remain unknown to press.

When collecting their emotions, many students mentioned that the sudden departure has left an odd void where the West Morris Community finds stability. Genuine scholar Connor chase says,

“It’s a peculiar feeling, entering the café doors in the morning just seems weird without chief humbly greeting me”.

Well liked and appreciated by most students, Chief was indeed an influential character within the halls of WMC. Whether it was a mere good mornings greet or the typical end of the day good-bye, Chief served a presence that the West Morris Central school district will miss.
