The 2014-2015 NHL season is kicking off and certain teams are looking good where as other teams are not. Many teams are attracting attention but none other than The New York Rangers.

The New York Rangers have quite a roster change this year. The Rangers made it to the Eastern Conference finals last year. However, the Rangers had felt the need to change their roster. Out of 29 people, only 9 players were on the team 2 years ago. The reason why the Rangers felt the need to change a roster that got them to the Stanley Cup is a mystery.

Going into player analysis and breaking apart the Rangers line up does not look good for the team. Upon examining a few player’s statistics it is clear that the Rangers are lacking offense.

Rick Nash, considered the best player on the Rangers, only averages 30 goals a season while Derek Stepan only averages around 20 goals per season as well. Carl Hagelin, one of the better players on the Rangers, only produces 13-15 goals in one season on average while Chris Kreider, and Martin St. Louis average about 20 goals per season. These individuals represent the main goal source of for the Rangers.

This all means that the Rangers will score somewhere around 140 goals the entire season, with an average of 1.7 goals for each game. Henrik Lundqvist, the Rangers goalie, had a 2.16 goals-against average. The numbers are definitely not looking good for the New York Rangers this season, with another post-season appearance almost out of the question based on current statistics.
