WMC Job Fair
On Friday, May 5th, West Morris Central hosted a job fair.! The fair was run by Mrs. Jaross, the District Work Based Learning Coordinator of the West Morris Regional District. When asked about why she decided to organize a job fair at WMC, Mrs. Jaross stated “I did it out of the need from the area of businesses… a lot of the businesses said that they felt like they weren’t reaching enough students, and were looking to hire, so I said ‘let’s meet the needs and you come to us’!”
The businesses at the fair that offered paid employment positions were Meadowbrook Day Camp, MVCA summer camp, WMC tech intern, Long Valley Brew Pub, Flanders Shoprite, Jersey Mikes, North Jersey Aquatics, Ort Farms, Liebenzell Retreat Center, and Crossroads Retreat Camp. Not only were there paid employment opportunities offered at the fair, but also volunteer opportunities! The volunteer opportunities were at the Long Valley Fire Dept, Long Valley First Aid Squad, Explorer Program (with Officer Marut), Reach Out non-profit, RACKS boutique, and CARE program (with the Long Valley Junior Women’s Club).
The job fair served as a great opportunity for students to get a job close to home and even provided a station with working papers to make the application process a breeze. The fair was a huge success for the WMC community, the places of employment, and the volunteer organizations who need the help!
