Hockey
The boys hockey season ended on February 20th in the first round of the North Public NJSIAA Sectional Tournament. The boys started the season off hot going 9-1-1 in their first 11 games and finished with a 16-7-1 final record. It was another fantastic year for the Wolfpack being led by the beloved coach Togno. Since 2021, Mr Togno has brought this team to 3 Haas cups and won 2 of them. Both of those cups were the first in WMC history. The Wolfpack made it back to the Haas cup this year but lost a close hard fought battle to the two seeded Gill St. Bernard’s. The leader in goals was junior Benjamin Barnhill. The leader in assists and points was senior Tommy Togno and the leader in saves, shutouts and save percentage was freshman Michael Treiber. A big thank you to the seniors who helped rebuild this program: Nick Dargel, Michael Ferry, Zach Knopf, Jake Salamone, and Tommy Togno.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball season came to a close on February 27th following a hardfought loss to Cranford in the quarterfinal round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 game. They finished with a record of 14-13 and took fourth in the National division. They won three or more straight three different times however their hot streaks were typically followed by cold ones losing three straight two separate times. The leading scorer was sophomore Zoe Kratochvil with 314 points. The leading rebounder and blocker was sophomore Tori Wehmeyer with 213 rebounds and 7 blocks. The leader in assists and steals was junior Brooke Cubbage with 73 assists and 65 steals. Although the girls may not be happy with how the season ended, it is still a bright future for WMC girls basketball with only one senior, Erin Meehan, currently on the roster. This team will stay and grow together next season. Expect big things!
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball season came to an end in the first round of the Section 2, Group 3 NJSIAA Tournament. They also finished with a 14-13 record. The season started off slow with the pack losing six of their first nine; however, a nineteen point win against Morristown turned their season around. They won ten of their last fifteen including a two point win against Delbarton who are ranked as the 35th best team in the state according to Max Preps. Senior Michael Amador led the team in points, assists, and steals. Junior Jack Leonard led the team in rebounds, and junior Will Kisatsky led the team in blocks. West Morris finished 4th in the American division right behind Chatham. And although it’s a step down from their 20-8 finish last year, it was still a fantastic season from the pack. A big thank you to seniors Logan Rauschenberger, Michael Amador, James Cleary and Ryan Gorman!
Wrestling
The wrestling season ended on February 10th for the Wolfpack. Even though they finished with a 14-10 record, they had a fantastic close to their season, winning 10 of their last 11 and finishing 4th in the Morris County Tournament. They also finished 4th in the American division. Tommy Borgia and Brody Neil made it to Atlantic city. Borgia was the first upper weight underclassman to finish in the top 16 and Brody Neil was the first WMC rookie wrestler to medal in states! Congratulations to Lucas Barisonek, Vincent Caruso, Henry DeFrance,Brendan McBride and Samuel Rizzuto on fantastic senior seasons!
Boys Swimming
The boys swimming season ended on February 5th. They ended with a 3-8 record. They finished 8th in the Southern 2 division. Congratulations to Carter Searle on a great senior season and good luck in his future endeavors.
Girls Swimming
The girls swimming season ended on February 12th and they finished with a 4-5-1 record. Their season came to a close in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Tournament for North 2, Group C to Glen Ridge. On January 12th 2024 senior Taylor Weth broke the West Morris Central 100m Breaststroke girls record with a time of 1:13.85! A big thank you to our seniors Kyra Demarest, Mackenzie Flammer, Sofiia Goncharuk,Grace Gunning, and Taylor Weth!
Boys Fencing
The boys fencing team ended their season on January 29th in a loss against Randolph. They finished with a 3-6 record. The leader in saber wins is Nick Panico with 13. The leader in Foil wins is John Thomas with 12, and the leader in Epee wins is Kieran Jackson with an impressive record of 26 wins and only 1 loss! A big thank you and good luck to our seniors Ryan Taylor, Tzur Haspel-Soares, John Sirico and John Thomas!
Girls Fencing
The girls fencing team ended their season on January 29th in a loss against Randolph. They finished with a 6-3 record. The leader in Saber wins is Aadarshini Vinod Das with 15. The leader in Foil wins is Julia DiPaolo with an impressive record of 23-2, and the leader in Epee wins is Addison Weber and Alexa Stolarz with 11! A big thank you and good luck to our seniors Julia DiPaolo, Gabriella Flynn, Sanjana Kuttikat, and Isabella Tuttolomondo!
Winter Track
The winter track season has come to a close. First off, a big thank you to seniors Jaxon Borst, Chris Fahrman, Savannah Johnson, Gideon Nichols, Beckett Sidener, Lydia Stepaneko, Alan Tai, Carly Juliano, Natalie Dias and Torian King! There were 3 school records set this year. Cade Zeolla set two records in Boys Pole Vault, one for solo pole vault and one in relay with Emerson Jania. Lydia Stepanenko set the Girls 200 record with a time of 27.11! There were also 5 class records broken by Cade Zeolla (Junior Boys Pole Vault), Capp Desheplo (Junior Boys Shot Put), Alanna Parkes (Freshman Girls 55), Liam Blaskopf (Freshman Boys Shot Put), and Abigail Bradley (Freshman Girls 1000).It was an outstanding record breaking year for WMC Track and with a quick turnaround they will be preparing for their spring season!
