Hacklebarney Cider Mill vs Ort Farms
Apple Cider Donuts: A Taste of Autumn

As the warm weather fades and the colors of fall start to appear on everyone’s drive into the school, the falltime nostalgia hits, leaving a craving for everyone’s favorite type of autumn snack: apple cider donuts!

With the sheer amount of farms in Long Valley, students at Central naturally vary in their favorites for choice of apple cider donut. Senior Brooke Cubbage’s favorite is the Hacklebarney Cider Mill. This mill is located about 10 minutes from West Morris Central and offers a variety of donuts, including cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, and even maple bacon! I tried out the classic, plain apple cider donut. It was delicious, and I rated it a 9.2 out of 10. It was fried on the outside and soft on the inside, and the winner of the apple cider donut debate.

Another favorite place for this treat that students mentioned was Ort Farms, less than 5 minutes from Central. Ort Farms does not have as much variety as the Cider Mill, but they still offer the classic apple cider donut. I reviewed this donut and gave it a 7 out of 10 due to its drier texture and lack of flavor. More details in the video below!
