It’s the beginning of football season, and that means fantasy football is starting up again. Whether students did fantasy last year or know nothing about football whatsoever, anybody can participate in a fantasy football league.
A freshman at WMC, Brennan Taylor, is in a fantasy football league this year with his friends. He has been playing football for many years now, and he is also a fan of professional football. Taylor absolutely thinks he has an upper hand in fantasy since he knows football so well. Taylor said, “Since I know the game, I have an advantage.” But even if you don’t know football too well like senior, Erin Reade, you can still join fantasy.
Reade is in a league with her “friend group” and they are involved in fantasy to have fun and enjoy it, even though most of them don’t know much about football. So far, Taylor is 0-1 and Reade is 1-0 so although Taylor knows more about football, Reade is doing better than him. But if you want to join fantasy, be careful because there are some harsh punishments if you lose.
Some ideas Taylor and Reade had include “run a mile and drink a gallon of milk, get a buzz cut, wear a prom dress to school, [and] hot wings challenge.” If you don’t want to suffer any of those consequences make sure you build a good team.
Some good players Taylor picked are Jamar Chase and Dak Prescott. Reade’s best player is “Jalen Hurt”. It’s important to know what players are good and what players are bad so you can draft the best team possible.
If you’re interested and want to do something fun with your friends during the football season, participate in a league! Don’t let your lack of football knowledge stop you from joining a fantasy football league.
