Congratulations to senior Elyse Cuccaro, one of Central’s five P.R.I.D.E. Ambassador nominees!
“I was nominated by my peers…for my display of passion.” Elyse’s confidence and demeanor enhance her positive influence on those around her. “I pride myself on how I treat other people, and I think that reflects positively in the school community.”
Elyse expresses her pride in the pack through the numerous activities she participates in at West Morris Central, stating, “I kind of feel like I never stop going; I’m always trying to dip my toes into everything.”
While Elyse is involved in many academic and athletic pursuits, she is best known as the varsity cheerleading captain. She also serves as editor-in-chief for The Paw, and she is a peer tutor, a REACH leader, and an officer for Highlanders for Humanity. Recently, Elyse was admitted to the Spanish National Honor Society. In the spring, she participates in Unified Track and Field.
Outside of school, Elyse’s dedication continues as she pursues her Girl Scout Gold Award. As part of her work for this award, she is creating an, “integrated cheerleading squad for neurodivergent and neurotypical students.” This initiative provides an opportunity for children with special needs and abilities to cheer together with neurotypical students. Additionally, Elyse occasionally assists with Long Valley Raiders Cheerleading.
Elyse also volunteers her time as the secretary for Reach-Out Non-Profit, an organization that advocates for and raises funds for children and teens struggling with mental health issues.
Most notably, Elyse represents her peers as a Student Representative for the Board of Education and the Vice President of the Class of 2025.
Elyse’s commitment to her community goes beyond Long Valley. She shares, “I’m very involved in my church. I lecture at mass, and I also teach first grade CCD.”
When discussing her fellow candidates, Elyse speaks with great respect: “I think that all the candidates this year are very deserving…we have a great group up there!”
Elyse was escorted to the football field by WMC alumnus Henry DeFrance!
