On September 27th, 2024, Alex Warren released the first half of his debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1). Warren was previously part of The Hype House (a friend group who made a TikTok account together in 2019), which is where he really started to grow his social media. In recent events, more information regarding The Hype House has come to light, due to the NDA’s starting to expire. Thomas was the “leader”. He made everyone sign an NDA before joining. He would then take all the money everyone in the house made, and use it for himself. Now, most of the NDA’s have expired and everyone is talking about their experiences within the house and with Thomas himself. With this, Warren was able to finish the first half of his album and release it. It gave him inspiration to write the final songs on the album. Without them, the album would’ve been too short and it would have been more of an EP than an album. This part of the album consists of 10 songs: “Burning Down,” “Catch My Breath,” “Carry You Home,” “Troubled Waters,” “Heaven Without You,” “Before You Leave Me,” “Save You a Seat,” “Chasing Shadows,” “Yard Sale,” and “You’ll Be Alright, Kid”
Warren decided to write a song about the experiences that he, his wife, Kouvr, and their friends experienced in the house. That song is “Burning Down”. The song has a staple line: “We were sharing the same 4 walls.” This line is Warren exclaiming how they were all a team and they all shared one house. Warren never says any names in the songs, but fans of Warren have their suspicions that the song is written about Thomas Petrou, the “leader” of The Hype House. “Burning Down” quickly became a fan favorite of many. Warren released a small preview, maybe 20 seconds, of the song, and fans grew to love it so much that Warren released it early for his fans to enjoy before the albums’ debut. The song has two versions. Alex’s and “The TikTok Version”. The difference is in the bridge when Warren either holds the note “I Had To Get Out” or he shortens it. Alex’s Version holds it, and the “TikTok” Version does not. Fans are split on which version they like better.
“Catch My Breath,” “Carry You Home,” Troubled Waters,” “Heaven Without You,” and “Before You Leave Me” are all about Warren’s Wife, Kouvr. The two started as a long distance relationship with Warren in LA and Kouvr in Hawaii. In all of Warren’s songs about Kouvr, he expresses his gratitude and love towards her as much as he possibly can.
“Chasing Shadows,” “Save You A Seat,” “Yard Sale,” and “You’ll Be Alright, Kid” are all about Warren growing up and experiencing different things in his life that he wants to share. For example, Warren explained multiple times on his social media that “Save You A Seat” was written for his parents who have passed away. He wrote the song, telling them that he would save them both a seat at his wedding.
A personal favorite song is “Catch My Breath”. The song talks about having a long distance relationship and the hardships that occur when this is your situation. Warren’s lyrics send a strong message to the listener which makes you feel closer to the song than other times. The lyrics “In this and every life, I choose us every time” was a fan favorite, as it shows Warren’s commitment to Kouvr.
Senior Lauren Zito has been a fan of Warren since he was in The Hype House. Zito also loves “Carry You Home because I have a boyfriend and I really love him”. Zito rates the album an 8/10 and would recommend the album to others. “I feel like it has a lot of relatable topics” states Zito. Between the two versions of “Burning Down”, Zito likes Alex’s Version better. Zito would not change anything about this album. “I love it!!! This album means a lot because of the topics covered” explains Zito.
Junior Dan Costa listened to the album after it was recommended by his friend. Costa’s favorite song from the album is “Carry You Home” with his favorite lyric being “We were talking to the sunset”. To Costa, the album is unique because “his voice is what makes it unique considering the other albums I’ve read (from other artists) can be identified for their writing and lyrics while I feel you can associate his albums with just his voice unless you’re like a die-hard fan.”
Even though it’s only the first half of the album, the fan base loves the work that Warren has done and can’t wait for the second half of the album in early 2025.
