West Morris Central Stage is preparing yet another phenomenal play for this fall season. They are debuting A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas, based on the novel by Charles Dickens, the script adapted for the stage by Micheal Wilson.
Dr. Agostin is the director of the WMC theater program and has always loved theater. She states, “I was a theater kid growing up and did a lot of community theater in my twenties. After being the assistant director at Mendham for a year, I was asked to come to West Morris, and this is now my third year here.” She said that the choice of A Christmas Carol was because she wants to spread the spirit of Christmas, but also “good will towards other people, generosity, the best of the human condition, and an example on how to be that way.”
WMC’s actors and actresses are excited to return to the stage and engage in the process yet again. Maximilliano Ruiter Lopez who was casted as Ebenezer Scrooge in this upcoming production, claimed that “the audition process is always a very exciting experience” and that “having a vision for the character that you want to audition for, and portray, will allow you to make convincing choices for the character, allowing you to turn an audition into your favor.”
Veronica Mulhern, who is playing both the Ghost of Christmas Past and Bette Pidgeon, says that she was inspired to participate in the play because she has been performing since she was three years old and has been doing the WMC theater program since freshman year. She says that “Dr. A is such a good director, and you can tell she cares about the students and the production.”
The performances of A Christmas Carol will be the weekend of November 21-23, and tickets will be available on the West Morris Central website and be sold at the door. After that, the spring musical will be announced on November 24th, and auditions will be held December 9th to the 13th, and the musical will be March 20th, 21st, and 22nd!
Be sure to come see the play in November and support the theater department, your fellow classmates, and the staff that have worked so hard to make this happen!
