On November 4th, 2024, Donald Trump was elected as the 47th United States President. This year’s presidential election was one of the most memorable yet. Throughout the year, both presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, have been preparing for Election Day.
There have been many twists and turns throughout this election year, such as the presidential debate between President Biden and Trump that led to the POTUS dropping out of the race. This led to Kamala Harris joining the race and bringing a fight. Another event that happened this year was the attempted assassination of Trump. This event highlighted political violence and brought some extra support for Trump. However, the largest and most important event that happened this year was the actual election.
During this highly anticipated race on November 4th, there were seven swing states that determined the election. Every one of these swing states were won by Trump. The swing states were Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
At the beginning of the night, Trump led Harris in electoral votes. At that time, none of the swing states were determined. Later on, both candidates started to get closer in votes. More democratic state polls were released giving Harris some ballots. In the end, Trump had secured every swing state and won by 86 electoral votes. All in all, with a lead of 312 votes to 226, Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
