Now that fall sports have ended, winter sports begin. The coaches and players are working hard and are ready for an amazing season this year!
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team ended their season last year with a record of 14-12. They suffered a tough loss in the first round of states to Cliffside Park, losing on a buzzer beater. Coach Schartner states, “The key for this year will be the team coming together and working together toward a common goal.” The team is working towards communicating and competing for a county and sectional title this season.
Girls Basketball
In the 2023-2024 season, the girls basketball team went 14-13. They made it to the quarterfinals in the NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament. Senior Lia Nowak says, “We have goals to, like always, make it as far as we can in the state tournament.” The team returns with Brooke Cubbage, Tori Wehmeyer, and Zoe Kratochvil as captains.
Wrestling
Last season, the wrestling team ended with a record of 14-10. They reached the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament. Senior, Mark Montuore says, “We need to work on high level technique and staying in shape throughout the season.” The team has many goals to have a successful season.
Winter Track
Last year, the winter track team made it to the state sectional meet with some competitors moving even higher up. Captain Lucas Rowland says, “Winning the sectional meet is something that every member on the team strives to achieve.” They hope to reach the goal of winning sectionals this season. The girls return with Olivia Murello, Erin Reade, and Racheal Dilling as captains. For the boys team, the captains are Lucas Rowland and Cade Zeolla.
Fencing
The boys fencing team ended their season 3-6, while the girls team ended with a record of 6-3. Captain Kieran Jackson says, “This year the team needs to train hard.” The team will work hard this season to be successful.
Swimming
Last winter, the girls swimming team made it to the semis finals with a record of 4-5-1 and the boys lost in the first round with a record of 3-8. Captain Dash Antonov says, “Some goals for girls to hopefully make it to finals and for boys to try and make it several rounds in the tournament.” The team hopes to get far in the state tournament this season.
