Meet junior Addison Weber, an inspiring athlete who has been fencing for three years and has made a significant mark on her team and the sport. “My favorite memory from fencing is hanging out with my friends at practice,” she said.
Weber’s biggest accomplishment in fencing came during her junior year when she achieved her 100th win. This milestone not only reflects her skill and dedication but also sets a benchmark for her future endeavors in the sport. An aspect of her fencing experience that she particularly loves is the team’s spirit bear. This tradition involves passing around a bear each year, symbolizing unity and encouragement among teammates.
Like any athlete, Weber has faced challenges. Her most significant hurdle has been overcoming mental blocks during competitions. “The biggest challenge I have ever encountered in fencing is…trying to get out of my head,” she explained. This resilience is a testament to her character and determination in WMC fencing.
If Weber could speak to her freshman self, her advice would be simple: “Just have fun with the sport and try not to take it too seriously.”
Weber does not plan to continue with fencing in college. Congratulations to her and her team and best of luck for next year to her!
