Senior Nicholas Rotundo has been nominated for March’s athlete of the month! Rotundo is a pitcher for Central and he has been playing baseball for the last twelve years of his life. In addition to playing for Central, he also plays on his club team, LIB Expos.
Rotundo adds that the team has always stuck together especially when they need each other. “We deal with tough times by just going back and focussing on the basics and overall sticking together as a team, and holding each other accountable.”
Rotundo’s coaches motivate him to play his best everyday. “The best advice I’ve received is…just to be myself. It’s simple yet effective and lets me know they have full confidence in me and I can play the way I know I can.”
In preparation for his baseball games games, Rotundo says his favorite pre game tradition is putting his headphones on and listening to some music.
Rotundo’s biggest role model is his dad. “He has taught me all I need to know about sports, but more specifically life.” He brings the lessons from his dad onto the baseball field as well as in his everyday life.
If Rotundo could speak to his freshmen self, his advice would be simple. “I would tell him that it goes by faster than you could’ve ever imagined, so don’t complain about practices or anything you might now want to do.”
Looking ahead, Rotundo will be attending The Pennsylvania State University in the fall.
