Senior Meg McNally has been nominated for March’s Athlete of the Month! McNally plays softball for Central.
McNally has been playing for nine years in total, showcasing her dedication and love for the sport. She says that throughout her career, her biggest role model has been her batting instructor. McNally plays the position of center field.
In addition to her instructor helping her achieve her best athletic ability, the biggest advice she has ever received from a coach is simple. “Just keeping confidence during a bat and making big situations smaller in my head.” She adds that this allows her to stay focused and try not to overthink game situations.
Central thoroughly prepares for teams and this is shown through their organized practices during the season. “We try to keep our energy up, and we work on a lot of fundamentals during practice.” This allows the team to be prepared for the ups and downs of a game.
In addition to playing for WMC, McNally also plays for the New Jersey Pride club softball team. Outside of softball, McNally states that her favorite class she is taking this year is American Legal Systems with Mr. Jacobsen.
McNally also adds that she loves to enjoy some caffeine before games. “I drink Celsius for my pre-game.” Lastly, if McNally could give her freshman self advice, she would tell her “Not to be stressed out by things and to not be scared of anything, because the environment for softball is very good.”
Looking ahead, McNally adds that she is committed to play D1 softball at the University of Rhode Island to continue her athletic and academic career. Go Rams!
