Dear Wolfie, Summertime Sadness

Dear Wolfie, Summertime Sadness

Hi SummersSoon221,

I know everyone’s so ready to be done with homework, exams, and the early wake up, but I’m glad that you appreciate all the good stuff that comes with the school year and want to cherish it! It’s nice to be able to see friends every day, learn from great teachers, and have access to clubs, arts, and athletics. Fans of The Office will remember when Andy Bernard said, “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.” Well, kids, you are in them! And you’ve got to enjoy it and savor the good parts and not let yourself get bogged down by the stress or the drama that often comes with the territory of high school. In this last month, eat lunch outside with your friends. Put down your phone or your school work and just enjoy each other’s company for those 45 minutes. Go to spring concerts, games, and events. Make a point to say thank you to the teachers, counselors, coaches, etc. who contributed to making your year great. There are so many experiences to be had outside of Long Valley and WMC, but it’s also really special to be able to call this place home, and you all are sharing that part of your journey with each other. So be kind to each other, and lean in and make the most of the opportunities you have while you’re here!
I’m feeling all the sentimental feels now. 🙂

Love,
Wolfie
