The 77th Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film and American television of 2019, were broadcast live from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on January 5, 2020, by NBC. There were several nominees and winners for this year’s Golden Globe Award Show, and many actors, actresses and directors were justly rewarded for their talent and hard work. Here are a few of the winners of The 2020 Golden Globes.

Cecil B. deMille Award: Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks won the Cecil B. deMille Award for his  “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment” according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Carol Burnett Award: Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres won the Carol Burnett Award for her “outstanding contributions to television on or off screen” according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television: Russell Crowe

For his performance in “Loudest Voice, The”, Russell Crowe has won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television.

Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language

The South Korean film, Parasite, won the Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture, Foreign Language. “Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films,” said Bong Joon Ho, the director of the film.

Best Motion Picture – Drama

1917, was the winner for the Best Motion Picture in the Drama category. The director, Sam Mendes won another award for Best Director of a Motion Picture for his film.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

For his outstanding performance in The Joker, Joaquin Phoenix won an award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, in the Drama category. 

Best Original Song – Motion Picture

Elton John and Bernie Taupin won Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for “I’m Gonna Love Me Again”. The song is featured in the movie about Elton John, Rocketman.
