Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanksgiving Day Parade

Today marks everyone’s favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. For some people, this means a large dinner with lots of food: turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, etc. For others, the excitement comes hand-in-hand with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade that is held every year in New York City, one of the largest cities on the earth. The parade was attended by thousands, and is known to be a national favorite of families during Thanksgiving.

The route of the parade, as listed below, is well organized. The parade starts at   the turtle pond near  the Massive garden in  NYC.   It travels  down to Central Park Street, where it then goes down  42nd street, where it eventually ends in front of the  Macy’s building, which is stationed a few blocks west of Hell’s Kitchen, the location of the famous cooking TV show.

The floats that were included in this year’s  parade are listed here: The Smurfs, Santa Claus, Sonic the Hedgehog,  Pikachu, Macy’s,  and a balloon of Snoopy as well; and Toy Story, just to name a few.  Kids were reported to be ecstatic to view the parade this year, and cheered as the familiar floats, balloons, and marching bands came marching down the street along their route.

Despite the cold weather, it is clear that the parade is as popular with families during thanksgiving as it had been before on the past celebrations of the the same holiday. Here’s hoping that it is as popular next year.
