Casey Kasem Went Missing

Radio icon Casey Kasem disappeared from his nursing home a couple days ago.

Casey Kasem hosted a radio music countdown for decades until he retired in 2009. He was also popular for the voice of Shaggy in the cartoon “Scooby-Doo” and announcer for NBC.  Now 82, Kasem is currently suffering from Lewy body disease, a common cause of dementia.

On Monday, a judge selected Kerri Kasem the temporary conservator until a June 20 hearing.

But she hadn’t been able to take on the responsibility without knowing where he was. She feared her father may have been taken out of the country.

After the two daughters visited Kasem in his California nursing home, the daughters’ attorney, Troy Martin, called the day after the visit to check up on Kasem, and he was told by the nursing home that he had been removed overnight.

When asked whether there had been any wrongdoing in leaving, the nursing home said “They’re free adults. They can travel where they want.” Kasem was found on Thursday, May 15, 2014, with his wife visiting longtime friends in Washington state. There is court issues that Kasem’s wife, Jean, is keeping Casey isolated from his daughters, friends, and family.
