Mendham Experiences Three Burglaries in One Month

Residents are being advised to stay on high alert as a result of the three burglaries that have taken place in Morris county.

Homeowners across Morris County are stunned to have lost jewelry and electronics in their homes. Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., on September 25, two homes in Mendham were broken into on the same street. The burglars are targeting homes on cul-de-sac streets, and are looking to stay out of sight from neighbors.

Mendham Lieutenant, Ross Johnson, spoke about these burglaries. He said that they were looking to get in quickly without being seen by surrounding neighbors. Also the burglars were looking to take high end items, such as jewelry and electronics.

Victimized homeowners have reported their doors being kicked in and they can clearly see that their bedrooms and bathrooms have been searched for valuable items.

In one of the robberies on Whispering Meadow Road in Mendham Township, the family reported that an excessive amount of jewelry had been stolen. Police also reported that the family dog had been moved to a different room.

Police still have very few leads on to who the burglars may be. In an area like Mendham, it is not common to see burglaries occurring at this rate. Homeowners and neighbors in the area should take precaution by remembering to keep doors locked, keeping security systems activated, and keeping an eye on their neighborhood.

Police are hoping for the town’s help in finding the burglars. Residents are encouraged to contact the police with any more pertinent information regarding the robberies.
