Is the App LuLu a Lemon?

Girls around West Morris Central have been buzzing about this new app: Lulu. Sorry, boys, this one is just open for girls. “Lulu” is an app where every girl in our school has the opportunity to rate any boy she wants. The “rating” on this app is essentially based on looks, personality, and prior relationships of the boy. All interactions are networked through facebook, and only females are allowed to participate. And no matter what rating you give, it is completely anonymous! So feel free to rate that boy you’ve had a crush on since 6th grade; or honestly talk about the boy that broke your heart. Either way, no one will know it was you! There are mixed feelings about this app among guys and girls at WMC. Senior, Kristen Mohr, does not think very highly of the app: “I think it’s really creepy. I think girls should keep their opinions to themselves. I also think this app is kind of like bullying. If a guy found out he had a bad rating, he may be offended by it. The whole app is extremely superficial. I deleted it as soon as I got it.”

This app does raise controversy with the attention that acceptance and bullying has received in the last few years. While people are free to have their opinions, it is one thing to keep them to themselves, but another to display them for everyone to see.Girls, how would you feel if there was a similar app rating girls?
