Dear Frat of 2015

Dear Frat of 2015

Dear Class of 2015,

As the year winds down, it is incredible to think that high school is over and college is right around the corner. With this, I encourage you all to embrace the recently established high school fraternity, Delta Beta Heta. The frat requires a pledge, decided upon by newly nominated frat master, Sean McElwaine.

Generally the frat is viewed as a destructive and obnoxious group, but the purpose is to entertain and make your lunch a little better. The “final supper” on June 11, 2014 was dedicated to any future frat members as we desired to pass on the torch. This year we had a solid 23 members of Delta Beta Heta, and also got rid of the “friend groups” that had been standing for quite sometime. The frat was originated with nine guys on a boring night and has been relentless since.

All the assets to the frat are taking care of including a frat paddle that sits in my basement. There has been a lot of sacrifice for the frat, including an early June spirit week. Tank tops became regular in the WMC halls and it’s not every day you see twenty guys in hawaiian shirts and bathing suits.

The frat made the class of 2014 enjoyable and generally it was either loved or hated. People tried to degrade it and call it immature but it was fun to enjoy the last few months of high school before we all enter the real world.

Why should you consider the frat? The answer to that is pretty simple, you could become best friends with a kid that you have said about two words to your entire life, throughout all the school years. The more you expand the more fun you will have and finally realize you do not have to play the same sports or take the same level classes to hang out with others.

The end of the high school year does not represent the end of Delta Beta Heta, a summer trip is being planned for a three day excursion on the Delaware River. It’s a lifetime friendship.

As part of the original frat, I advise all of the upcoming seniors to try to keep the frat alive and make this a tradition. Whether you liked us all or not, you cannot deny we made you laugh at some point. The brotherhood makes you stop taking life so seriously and realize it is alright to leave the comfort zone and embarrass yourself a little bit.

To wrap up , do not let college stress you out or school applications, the frat is a great getaway. It made my senior year much better, so hopefully it could make yours too.

To Carl, Espo, Chuck, Adamo, Bre, Pooter, Eberth, Jesse, Schade, Juan, Lube, Carf, Pruss, Pap, Han, Robe, Mac, Siino , Swan, Musc and Hodge. It’s been real.
