This might be the most exhausting awards season that I’ve covered. I only say this because unlike previous years, especially last year, a lot of big stuff is currently up in the air right now. Now don’t get me wrong I enjoy the challenge, but I also want to win by achieving the coveted 24-0 prediction sheet. I also have a lot more personal feelings towards the films this year as opposed to previous years. As you can tell from the title image and its caption I really didn’t like Emilia Pérez but I know for a fact that it’s a shoe-in, in multiple categories. On the other hand I absolutely adored The Brutalist and am not apprehensive to call it one of my favorite movies of all time. However by seeing how the season is going I don’t think it is going to win in the categories I think it deserves. Although I still want a 24-0, this is a year that I actually hope I’m wrong in many of these categories.
There is also the fact that this will be my last time doing this for this paper which isn’t lost on me. I’ve loved doing this for the painfully short time I had. This extends to the Emmys too the ability to share my award-show mania with a bunch of people if only for a day has been great and its something I will never take for granted.
