2025 was a year of popular, and controversial music releases. Fans saw albums from top artists like Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Lady Gaga.
According to the Rolling Stone, the top 5 albums of 2025 (from fifth to first) were Getting Killed by Geese, Baby by Dijon, Lux by Rosalia, Mayhem by Lady Gaga, and Debí Tirar Más Fotos by Bad Bunny. Not only were the albums popular upon release, but they made an especially huge impact on social media.

Bad Bunny’s music was used in his Calvin Klein advertisement, and Lady Gaga’s songs blew up because people felt a sense of revival of her old music that gained her fame. While Dijon and Geese aren’t widely known by the student body, their unique music styles set them apart from other artists that put out music this year.
According to WMC Sophomore, Nicolas Murillo, the top three albums were accurately ranked, but he wasn’t familiar with the albums in fifth and fourth place.
He finds that while Lux is one of Rosalia’s best works, he expected more from Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga. While Lady Gaga has her iconic sound, Murillo wants to see Bad Bunny experiment with his music more. “I kind of want to see more diversity,” he stated. “I feel like he’s kind of making the same music.”

Murillo favors Lux by Rosalia over all the albums because of how it reflects Rosalia’s life, and because it introduced him to a genre he never would’ve found himself previously enjoying. He’s looking forward to Rosalia making more music in the future.
Brooke Jones, a senior at WMC, didn’t find herself familiar with all but one of the albums in the top 5. She knew Mayhem by Lady Gaga, but it still didn’t place in her personal favorites of the year. She happens to prefer more indie artists as opposed to the pop and rock found in the Rolling Stone list. Even though Lady Gaga’s album wasn’t one she visited frequently, she

would “give Abracadabra a Grammy for the single.”
She’s more so looking forward to albums this year from other artists, such as Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodrigo, and Ariana Grande.
Despite the Rolling Stone Top 5 Albums of 2025 not aligning with WMC students very well, they could still appreciate the art for what it is. Everyone is looking forward to seeing these artists progress and release more music in the years to come!
