Scream 7 is being released on February 27, and people already have major theories about the plot just from trailers and teasers alone. For a while now, many of the fans have thought that Stu Macher (Scream 1996 ghostface) might come back. This would focus on the roots and beginning of the franchise. The possible storyline is also believed to be more personal, due to the fact that the main character Sidney Prescott has more family and friends now.
The movies have been popular for a while, but the last few (especially Scream 5 and Scream 6) have gotten mixed reviews. The plot is typically the same and that just makes the story easily predictable, taking the fun and suspense out of it. Fans are worried this will possibly happen in the final film.
In the cast, there are already eleven listed characters that have never been in the film. It is always important for a film to not repeat the same thing over and over again, but when adding it all into an ending for a franchise may end up getting extremely confusing. It’s just too many new characters for something that is supposed to end the franchise. However, Matthew Lillard (who plays Stu Macher) is listed in the cast. This could either mean he will come back in a hallucination/nightmare, or actually be brought back in the present storyline.
Freshmen Alyvia DaSilva has some thoughts on the upcoming horror film. “I think the film will receive mixed but mostly positive opinions from fans if it respects the original movie and characters” DaSilva said. There are many that have hopes for a nostalgic vibe for the movie, but it might be too many different stories. “Having fewer movies but stronger stories would be better” DaSilva said.
Freshmen Mackenzie Consalazio thinks the movie will be popular because of early publicity. “I think that it will be very hyped up and talked about a lot, which will make people want to watch it more” Consalazio said. Although there are some mixed thoughts, this final film will hopefully give a good ending to the franchise and storyline of the characters.
