On March 1, 2026, the 32nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held, honoring many performers including the late Catherine O’Hara. This honor allowed many performers and viewers alike to appreciate her career as an actress and is seen as honoring O’Hara’s memory.
The award presented to her was entitled “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series,” which she won for her performance in The Studio, a series that ran from March 26 to May 21, 2025. Other nominees for this award were Kathryn Hahn, Jenna Ortega, Jean Smart, and Kristen Wiig.
Although she was not physically able to accept this award, Seth Rogen accepted it on her behalf, dedicating his speech to honoring her and her career as an actress. Rogen spoke very highly of the actress, saying “We’re lucky to live in a world where she shared her talent with us.”
This moment has spread beyond the television where the Screen Actors Guild was streamed and can be seen on multiple social media platforms. For this reason, many younger audiences are now aware of her winning and the impact her award had. Senior Brooke Jones, who did not watch the awards live, is one of these students. “I saw it on TikTok,” said Jones. Extending the news through social media, has allowed her accomplishments to reach younger audiences and give others an opinion on her. “I think it was well deserved,” said Jones, demonstrating how O’Hara’s achievements have spread through the media.
This award show ended up being so much more than just a win for an actress; it was a well-deserved honor of a beloved actress. Whether the audience is an adult that has seen her movies since they first debuted or a teenager who only sees her once a year on the screen during Christmas time, it can be agreed that O’Hara was such a notable actress and this moment pays tribute to that. “She was a really big icon,” said senior Sammie Varela.
