This year, principal Mr. Rymer established the Teacher of the Month award to recognize and honor staff members at West Morris Central for their valuable contributions to the WMC community and skills as educators. Congratulations to Mrs. Wendt for being recognized as August Teacher of the Month!
Mrs. Wendt has been teaching for 16 years, and West Morris Central has been lucky to have her for the past 11. She mentions that she is “really honored to have been recognized” as Teacher of the Month. As a part of the school’s adept math department, she continues to show dedication to her job each and every day. She spends countless hours in and out of the classroom preparing for lessons and helping students.
Another distinct quality of Mrs. Wendt is her ability to inspire. She demonstrates a true passion for teaching in class, allowing students to not only improve their math skills but also develop an interest in and love for learning in general. Finally, Mrs. Wendt advocates for and supports students, improving their high school experience and making school a more comfortable place for them. Overall, Mrs. Wendt’s classroom is an environment that fosters learning and curiosity.
Mrs. Wendt is very grateful to the West Morris Central faculty for nominating her, but also extends appreciation to them for demonstrating dedication to their jobs every day. Mrs. Wendt claims that when she first started at West Morris, “it felt like every teacher was amazing,” and she developed these attributes because “being around these fantastic people just made you better.”
The Teacher of the Month award also showcases and builds the incredible community at West Morris Central, as it highlights and spreads the appreciation for educators here. Mrs. Wendt states that the community at WMC, or the Wolfpack family, “really is like a family away from your real family,” in the sense that the entire staff is willing to assist and support students and other staff members.
Ultimately, the new Teacher of the Month award will recognize a teacher for their hard work inside and outside of the classroom, and Mrs. Wendt is an excellent first nominee. Congratulations, Mrs. Wendt, on becoming the 2025 August Teacher of the Month!
