On January 27, the band students of Long Valley Middle School paid a visit to the band class of WMC. This meetup is an annual event hosted by Central where both of the schools play with each other for the duration of the school day.
A notable player in the event was Alina Polozani, a sophomore at WMC. Polozani has been in band for seven years now, and has played with the high school when she was in eighth grade. She plays numerous instruments, but in band she plays the flute. She stated that “playing with the middle schoolers can be challenging” because of their experience levels not always being the same, but that the event is fun nonetheless.
Polozani recommends playing in band to other students because of the wonderful time she’s had for these past seven years. “Band has been a great experience for me,” she stated. “I’ve met so many of my closest friends and I’ve gotten so many great opportunities through the music department as a whole.”
Not only did she explore these opportunities and friendships, but she also gained some skills from band as well. Polozani claimed that band has helped her with skills such as, “time management, appreciating the arts, and really understanding how hard work can pay off and create something enjoyable.”
WMC congratulates Polozani for this accomplishment, and look forward to any future performances!
