Junior Andrew Ulto won December athlete of the month for his contributions to the boys Cross Country team and Track team. Ulto’s greatest achievement in his career so far has been making the Meet of Champions for Cross Country. He originally joined track to improve his running for soccer, stating, “I joined track because I originally wanted to get in better shape for soccer, but I ended up loving it, and running became my main goal.” In terms of his teammates, Ulto stated “I’d hope they describe me in a way that makes them look forward to practicing and being in a team aspect. So, I wish they would describe me as a genuine friend.” Ulto has plans to run in college, where that may be is still undecided. His advice for young athletes is to really get to know your teammates, “You must first enjoy the company of your teammates and people you’ve met in this sport. Once you do that, this sport becomes way more enjoyable.” Ulto stated.
Senior Kaia Jackson won December athlete of the month for her contribution to the girls Field Hockey team as co-captain. Jackson plays midfield and defense on the field. She will continue her athletic prowess at Quinnipiac University’s Dlll Women’s Field Hockey team. This past season, Jackson had an incredible game against Voorhees, scoring three goals in just 92 seconds and went on to defeat second-seeded Voorhees, 4-1, to advance to the sectional finals against top-seeded West Essex.
A big congratulations to both West Morris Central’s Athletes of the month. Not only for their athletic prowess but also for their P.R.I.D.E. in the Pack!
