The third marking period is marching to a close! Here are a few reminders from guidance to keep in mind as we enter the third month of 2024.

Seniors will be able to apply for local scholarships during the first week of March. Emails and announcements will be sent out for further information. Seniors should also make sure to be updating their counselors about finalizing their plans for next year.

Another college fair will take place in the library during lunch on March 6th. Students of all grades should consider attending.

March 8th is the deadline for students to finalize course requests for the 2024-2025 school year.

On March 12th-13th, juniors will sit for the NJGPA. The computer-based test is a graduation requirement that assesses students on skills in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS): grade 10 ELA, algebra 1, and geometry. WMC guidance counselor Mrs. Shaffer stated that the NJGPA evaluates “a student’s ability to think critically, solve problems, and use information from what they read and write to develop essays and to solve mathematical problems.” There are two key parts to the assessment: Math and ELA. Each subject includes two ninety-minute units that will be administered together on the same day.

On March 21st, the Student Council will host a blood drive in the AUX Gym. If fifty donors participate, senior participants may be eligible to win a college scholarship.
